I ran a wire to my fuse block that was keyed and it works fine. Just make sure the power turns off with the key or the choke will stay on all the time(not what you want).
I just completed going back to a manual from an electric on my Holley. The electric was a royal pain in the butt.
The problem is that it cools off way to fast. If for instance I pull into a gas station to fill her up, by the time I crank it to leave the choke had already cooled off enough that the engine would be at a high idle again. Really a pain if you make alot of stop and goes.

I'll have to agree with DuckRyder on this, and the proper hook-up is the stator terminal. That way if the key is left on and the truck isn't running the choke has no power. It has also been my experience that Holleys in general do not need alot of choke to start cold. I have modified the choke plate on all mine.
Please "ed-u-ma-kate" me on this adjustment you speak of. I know how to rotate the large black choke cap to adjust how much choke is applied but how do you adjust the rate at which the bi-metallic element cools off?
Honestly, within 5 minutes of the engine being shut off my previous electric choke would have cooled off enough to cause the carb to go to high idle(choked) when re-cranked.
Nearly the same carb as my 3310 with electric conversion.
How cold is the weather when it is doing this? Mine takes 30 or so minutes to cool off to the point that it will fast idle again. The choke is set in the middle and it works perfectly. I have to think that there is a clog in the pull off system, or that the sping is either mis-installed or defective. Did you try positioning the choke all the way to lean and did it still do this?
Of course if you like the manual choke I guess it is a moot point, but I wouldn't trade mine.
I got my holley in yesterday, Will hook wire to Stator.terminal.
Which terminal is it on the alt. what color wire?
The reason I am asking is I just installed a new alternator and want to make sure it is wired correctly.
