Engine offset from centerline

<cr>
I'm installing a 5.0L HO into a 53 F100 with a Volare IFS. Do to motor mount issues I need to offset the engine, to the right of centerline. From what I understand, offsetting an engine is not uncommon.

I am aware of pinion angle issues and of keeping the engine inline with the frame rails. My main concern is the weight affect the offset can have on the suspension and the resulting performance issues.

Can anyone give me a general rule on the maximum offset allowed.

I don't know what the normal is but all of the 67-72 F100 are offset to the right side of the truck. I'm think they are about 2-3 inches. If you look at the ford 9" rearend you'll see that they are offset as well to compensate for this.

Thanks Clint. After posting this, I did some searching. It seems the 396 Camero's were offset 1". Some of the Mopar's were offset 1 1/2"-3". Apparently it isn't too critical.
