Ok, the details are not as gruesome as others. I had a delay or pause like taking your foot off the throttle, then back down every time the trans. shifted from 1st to 2nd at moderate to heavy accel, but not WOT. My local favorite dealer checked it out and told me that there was "excessive assembly grease on the 1-2 solenoid from original assembly" and "this has been reported alot, we have had to pull and clean 20 or so here". It does not make me happy, especially since the tranny's are rebuilt at a women's prison......strange but true, I don't know if the new ones are built at the same place or not. I still have the delay about once a week, but of course, now I can't duplicate it and neither can the techs and it's not a problem like before, so now I'm concentrating on the slight clunk I have been hearing when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. I have read posts on here about this, so other people have been experiencing trans. problems. I hope the major failures are oddball flukes and I can deal with the little stuff.
By the way, I bought this truck because FMC couldn't fix my old truck's trans. They replaced it once, rebuilt the new one, then replaced it and just before the warranty ran out, it quit shifting again and they agreed to pay it off and find a way for me to buy this one. The old truck was a 2002 F-150 5.4L auto 4x4 SCrew and the whole story is too sad to replay, but at least the dealer was willing to make it right. I'm just glad the problems with this truck are so mild in comparison.
I have a 2005 F250 CC 4WD with the exact same problem. Only had 1822 miles on it when I felt a clunk (almost like it shifted) then notice lots of white smoke out the back. (I was towing around 9000lbs on a slight uphill grade).
I was able to coast to a stop, applying gas only made the motor rev (Like it was in neutral). I was unable to shift out of drive except to 1-3 gear, would not go to N or P. I could see where fluid leaked out from underneath by the rear main. Ruined one trip and from the sound of things will ruin another by not being fixed in time.
First thing I noticed leading up to this problem was shifting into Park became rough (kind of popped in) it was much smoother prior to my first tow, folllowed by hard shifts and slipping when going into 2nd and 3rd. hard shifts and slipping started to go away, until my 2nd tow when it broke and locked up the transmission. Hope no one else has this problem, but heard there were over 600 people waiting for a part to fix.
Update:
Just found out today that ford is sending a new transmission, which should arrive by Tuesday.
Total time:
Truck was towed Friday night, Dealership Identified problem on Monday, took until Friday to get response from Regional Manager about new transmission. So total time if trans arrives on time.. 7 business days..
I also have the EGR flutter, but it only started after allowing engine to idle for over 15 minutes or more (was waiting in line to dump). This flutter also started right before my trans went out (not sure if they are related). I was in tow haul when I had the flutter before trans went out. I also had the smell of a skunk prior as well.. I highly doubt either were related.
Other then these issue this has been a great truck, will see how the tow for New Years goes.
I have burnt up 2 in less than 13k by running a chip. i find it funny that nobody has heard of any failures here? over on the diesel stop there have been tons of posts on failure most are module related and the clutches are burning up. sounds like this problem was the infamous planetery pin backing out and tearing itself up. there has been a major problem with this on alot of tranny's. the pin is just a press fit and aparently there were some bad batches that went out the door. i just rebuilt my tranny with a suncoast extreem rebuild kit. so i hope my worries are over as far as the transmission goes. its suposed to hold 450+ rear wheel hp.
Does he just do it for racing or is it for towing or..??
Is he far enough ahead to do an exchange or ...??
How many has he build and what is the greatest miliage on one of his units?

I believe it is done for the Southern California Powerstroke guys and whoever else. He fabricates a few pieces to mate them correctly. I asked about the programming and he says it is being done. I don't know much more about it.
At approx. 1450 miles on my '05 F-250 PSD, Torque Shift I started having hard shifts as well. Started while pulling a light 5er. Within 2 days it would not engage in any gear from Park. If let roll a few inches it would engage, very harsh. Shifts both up and down in all gears got worse until I was able to get it back to the dealer. The pressure regulating valve was found bad and replaced the same day. No problems since, now about 2800 miles. Awesome truck!
my 05 sd crew cab dually had massive transmission failure after 1140 miles. Dealer told me the trans didn't blow... the plantary just went out. After 9 days in the shop it has come back with new trans, new oil cooler, and new batteries ( work order says they wouldn't hold a charge) Now it seems the torque converter won't stay locked up, it will unlock at the slightest decrease in throttle. I didn't notice this problem the first 1130 miles I had the truck.
I have a '03 350 6.0L, @ 60K I had it in and the tourque converter had to be replaced along with the 4th gear clutch packs. Now I am at 69K and my tow/haul mode light started flashing and slipping symptoms. Hoping it's electronic. Any ideas? Also should mention I have a couple of go toys on it Edge and magnaflow, and I also pull a trailer about 5k/yr.

Reason: forgot important info
Good luck, I hope you have the extended warr. I have the edge and went through Two rebuilds. More parts then the ford dealer is going to stock for your truck will be needed. I hope this is not the case!!
