Solution
Just got my 97 Expy out of the shop and found out that both speed sensors had to be replaced so total cost was $51.00 front sensor $48.00 rear, $95.00 labor, $95.00 diagnostic. THAT WAS THE CULPRIT RESPONSIBLE FOR A4WD FLASHING. Thanks for the advice. Mililani, Hawaii

99 expedition 4x4 lite blinking - replaced both sensors
Both of my sensors were bad and the 4x4 lite was blinking on and off. Three different dealers told me it was 99% sure to be sensors. Replaced both of them 3 weeks ago in Utah....drove back to Virginia no problem. Cost me about $300 (but I had them replace the fluid in the transfer case too, since it seemed like a good time)
