I have a '94 Explorer with a trailer pkg. I'm tring to find the running light terminal in the 7 pole socket. I can find the 'common' and the 'battery recharge hot', but when I do a circuit test with my head lights on I don't get a hot circuit on any of the terminals except for the one I already had ( the battery recharge).
Doesn't anyone have any idea what might be happening. I have a good clean ground. I'm wondering if it is a Ford thing related to the relays in the rear tool compartment.
According to my wiring diagram, there are 3 relays associated with the trailer package. One each for left/right stop&signal lamps, and 1 for tail lights. Left stop comes out on a Yellow wire, right stop comes out on a Dark Green wire and tail light come out on a Tan/White wire.
The tail lamp relay has battery from the head lamp switch on one side of the operate coil on a Brown wire, ground on the other side of coil is Orange. Battery for the tail lamps is fed from an instrument fuse panel to the relay on a Yellow wire thru the contacts and out on a Tan/White wire to the plug.
Hope this helps
