I have a 1992 F-150 with EFI. I just recently put a gibson catback system on and was thinking about replacing from that system back up to the exhaust manifolds. Can i just go with one highflow cat and be done with it or do I have to replace this with an OEM type replacement. Would I benefit horsepower wise by getting rid of one of the cats...?? These things are original and looking pretty nasty...
Would i stand to benefit by having headers that go into one cat, or just leave the stock manifolds alone and go into one cat... Any info or ideas on this would be appreciated..
I don't know if it's a universal CAT or not, but I am having a shop cut the pipes behind the O2 sensor and make up a custom Y and have them put in a high flow CAT and then bring the 3 inch pipe right into my Gibson muffler... They told me at the shop I could go with one... Guess I'll find out come emission testing time..
They had one replacement for my 1992 F-150 with one cat on the setup but I didn't want to adapt that 2 1/4" cat to my 2 1/2" head pipe on my Gibson exhaust. Just wanted a straight shot to it...
