It's worth it just for piece of mind. I do this on all my motors along with smoothing and chamfering all the oiling passages. Balancing may just be a waste of $$ in the case of your rebuild. Those Silvolites aren't going to weigh that much different from the stock pistons. Plus if your not going to be building a high performance engine.........
Pc and Baddad, I'm struggling with CRS disease, but aren't those 1130s flattoped ? That would give you 9 1/2 or 10 to one. The pistons I like to see in a truck are the 1131s ( small dish, 1.76 tall ), or the 1116s, ( less dish, 1.76 tall ) or the H304P, ( bigger dish, but still 1.76 tall ). The ones to avoid are the 1139s and the 381Ps IIRC. DF

According to Silvolite's website, the 1130's have a 1.76 comp height and a 3" diam. x .147 deep dish in them. They list them at 9.5 to 1 comp but don't specify what chamber volume this is calculated with. I calculated that dish volume to be around 22cc's.

I went back and looked again, you have the part #'s mixed up. The 1131's are the true flat tops. The 1116's have the slight dish.

This is the description that the ebay sale has.
The pistons are made by Silvolite and there number is 1130+40 and the Sealed Power number is 304P+40. Pistons have a recessed head of .080” deep x 3.220” dia w/4 valve reliefs.
You guys are right, the silvolite 1131 is flattopped, and the 1130 and the 1116 both have a dish in the top, but are 1.76 tall and are good truck pistons. It is the 1139 that we want to avoid. By the way.....CRS stands for Can't Remember Stuff. There is supposed to be another, coarser, meaning, but I don't remember what it was......DF
