E7TE 351 heads on 302
E7TE 351 heads on 302
I picked up some E7TE heads from a 351 to use on the 302 that I'm rebuilding. Its my first engine rebuild. The machine shop resurfaced the deck on the 302, but I don't know how much they took off. I'm using flat top pistons. Should I be concerned about the valves touching the pistons? Its a D0AE block with stock cam. Thanks.

E7's also came on 302's in 87-97 trucks and vans, and the 87-95 Mustang 5.0 PLUS the 87-up Lincoln Mark VII 5.0, same heads only difference is the larger head bolt holes on the 351's, you'll need the step washers they sell for installing aluminum heads on 302's. Your piston to valve clearance is no way close to matter with a stock cam. If the block was milled any more than .030, you'll have the intake fitment to worry about, not the valve clearance.
I did ask about the intake fitting when I picked it up. They said it would be ok, said just a small amount taken off the deck. Lets hope they knew what they were talking about. I didn't even notice the head bolt difference. Guess I'll look for some step washers. Thanks baddad!
Summit and Jegs sell the washers as will any other place that sells aluminum heads for Fords. Summit part number EDL-9680 for the Edelbrock washers--$48. I did the same thing with one pair of E7's that I'd bought in the junkyard, they turned out to be 351 E7TE heads too.

haha. it sure is the Crappy Fuel Injection system. Damn thing died on my way home from buying the car. Was able to pull a code for TPS out of range with a jumper and test light. (this car doesnt have a check engine light) I checked the TPS with a meter and it turned out that the TPS would work fine cold but get a large dead spot after it heated up from 10-15 minutes of driving. After replacing the TPS, it runs ok now after the motor warms up.
I've got a 4Bbl mustang intake. Im just sticking that TBI on my 2bbl intake until I decide between changing the sending unit and running a 4bbl or going with MAF mustang intake/wiring harness. Which would you guys go with? I'm guessing the 4bbl would be the cheaper route.
So other than the washers would a set of D0OE 351W heads be a direct bolt-on to a later model (mid-80's) 302 as well? I swear I remember seeing something about a special head gasket because the water passages are different...
go with an edelbrock carb 600cfm,rig it up with a 4 pin gm module straight to a dura spark 1985 steel geardistributor from an 85 mustang if the engine has roller lifters,if not just use any cast iron gear duraspark dizzy,,,,,F### all that fuel injection speggetti wiring,,,,go with a carb very simple

Why would you rig an Edelbrock carb up to a 4 pin GM module ?
