Speed Density vs. Mass Air
We have a 95 5.8 Bronco. I guess we have the speed density setup because I know it doesnt have mass air. I know what a mass air set up looks like but what are the real differences between the two? Im not sure what the speed density looks like, there is nothing on the intake hoses or anything "like a mass air".

I don't know but I would like to know more just like you. I want to do it to my truck but I am not sure what all needs to be purchased and changed out. Can anyone help the both of us? Thanks!
There are several websites that have information about the conversion. Basically, you take the complete MAF setup from a Mustang, matching trans type, including computer and put it in your Bronco. I used the Ford Racing MAF conversion kit, M-9000-T51 (automatic trans) to convert mine. It has everything including the intake air tube with MAF sensor and wiring harnesses. Summit sells them, along with many others. It will take a few hours to install, but is very straightforward. I think if you go to the Ford Racing website you can see the kit somewhere on there.

Mass air flow uses a airflow meter to measure quantity of incoming air so that the computer can calculate fuel mixture requirements.
Speed density uses preset caculations from computer memory. Both read throttle position , engine temp , air temp , O2 in exhaust etc.
Mass air can compensate for changes in amount of incoming air. Speed density relies on preset memory and reads RPM etc to determine air/fuel ratio. Advantage of Mass Air it can compensate for engine modifications without changing computer program. Speed density requires new chip or reprogram to handle big variation from stock parameters .
