AC Compressor not clicking on

Hey,

I have a 94 B3000 and when I turn on the AC, the compressor does not click on and the AC doesn't work.

When it used to work, the compressor used to click on and off every 5 seconds. It worked like that since I bought the truck 6 years ago. Was that normal?

Do you think that the problem is in the compressor or is it possible that the compressor is not turning on because there is a leak in the system?

Thanks.

Have the charge level checked. If the system is too low on charge, the "low pressure switch" will keep the compressor from engaging.

JC Whitney sells an R134a conversion and charging kit that comes with a reusable refrigerant level gauge.

What type of refrigerant does the 94 B3000 use?

Thanks.

Look under the hood for a sticker that indicates the type of A/C refrigerant used on your truck. Pretty sure '94 was the year Ford went to R-134a on everything, so you should already have that type of system. But check to be sure.
