If I recall correctly the a/c compressor clutch should only have .020 gap when the truck is off. It could be a bad clutch or it could be the clutch cycle switch which is on the drier. It could have a clogged expansion valve if that is the case then that means the compressor is going bad or is already chewing up parts inside it.
Or it could be something as simple as you have a leak somewhere and needs more feon.
Mine was doing the same thing prior to summer starting. Removed the clutch and the last shim that's was in there. Reinstalled clutch and alls "cold". Did however, order a new clutch assy from rockauto since there's not much clutch left
My bet is either one or both of your switches may be bad or just a bad connection on the terminals. The low pressure switch is on the dryer/accumulator and the high pressure switch is near the compressor. I dealt with this twice earlier this year on my truck and my dads and both were switch related.
