Ugh... not the kind of thing you want to see when you've got a 70 mile drive to and from work every day...
I went to Autozone and they gave me one of those code slips... says the EGR valve is malfunctioning. I drive a 2001 2.5 5 speed. Anybody know much about this? I haven't had a lot of time to tinker with it, but since it's mine, I know I have to fix it. I also have to replace half of the bulbs in my instrument cluster... but I'll keep holding off until absolutely necessary. Thanks in advance!
I have 98 3.0 with the same prob. I noticed the check light about a week ago.
The engine has a rough idle and runs kinda rough. I went to Autozone, they checked it and told me it could be one of three things,EGR valve, sensor, forgot what else, anyway I bought a EGR valve for $52, I changed it, because the old one was full of carbon and had poor suction, my trucks idle is now smoother but is still rough while driving at certain times, and the check light still on . I guess I will try changing the EGR sensor next, another $52. (strange they both cost $52)
If your dpfe sensor is gone bad will that affect your gas mileage? My check engine light has been on for at least 1000 miles now. I have a 2001 quad cab (43,000 miles) w/4.0, auto trans, 31.10.50 tires and my mileage absolutely sucks. Prob only getting around 15mpg @ best. Best I can do on a tank is 225 miles and you had better be finding petro quick.
