Transplanting

I know this is talked about all the time, but every discussion I found is about the whole engine and wiring and computer being switched out. What I would like to do is to get a 5.4 block, and use all the parts from my 4.6. There must be something different on the heads because I noticed that the exhaust manifolds are different but the head gskets are the same. I would like to continue using my computer, sensors, and DIS ignition (the 2 that are mounted on the front of the motor). The reasons for all this is because the previous owner had a lot of things done (headers, MSD DIS igntion module and coil packs, BBK valve covers) and would like to keep them. Mostly the ignition because I do not want to contend with the COP's.

Thank your for any advise and comments. Any technical info about switching blocks and retaining the old system.

The heads should be the same as long as they are both PI or non-PI heads. The intake and exhaust manifolds are different due to the block being taller and wider. The PCM will not be calibrated for the extra cubic inches so it may not run right. You will also need the correct 5.4L fuel rail set-up due to the difference in width.
