Ok this thing has decided to drop all it's problems on me at once. First off I do have an exhaust leak which I don't think is enough to cause the slight miss when i'm in 4th or 5th under light load. But I can't rule it out I only have a cat no mufflers so the engine might not be getting enough back pressure. It did set a check enigne it's stored so i'll go get it looked at does anyone do it for free? I did replace the plugs and wires about 35-40 thousand miles ago but this feels kinda like there bad again. I also thought about the MAF but i'm not sure what that feels like when it needs to be cleaned. Feel free to throw any ideas at me.
Well put the new wires on it problem is gone..... But on the way home the check engine light came on again don't know why still runs good but the light is on so there is still something wrong. I'll go get the code read again and see what it says if it's a missfire again what could it be? Maybe a bad coil.
I would look at the plug, maybe swap it with another cylinder to see if the code follows it. Is the exhaust leak near #3? Did you put a little dielectric grease in the boots? The 4.0s are also known for intake leaks, that might cause a problem, see the link about this in the tech info thread.
No the leak is back where the cat and the y-pipe bolts up and yes i did put dielectric grease in the boots. I am taking it to the dealer tomarrow and see what's up.
