the picture on jegs is not right. There is the black link and then the white guideplates sits in the black link and it should extebd out and the pushrod will run through it. They don't show it extended where the pushrod should be. and crane acts like they don't have the part like you said.
As for the oringinal poster, forget about the roller rockers. Some of the advantages are less friction, less weight, more rev potential, and more power. On a stock 351m or whatever the $300 invested in more like a hassle and the 15 hp is probaly peak and not throughout the whole range. save the money for other 335 series repairs.

I tried various ways of looking them up on Crane's web page and couldn't find them. That usually denotes a product on it's way out.
That black "alignment" link wouldn't work right with canted valves. Is it perhaps not used on a 351M/400 etc? The normal grooves for the pedestal mounts would provide the same "alignment". Nevertheless a guideplate would cause that "side wiping" action across the valve stem.
Wow! i thought i would be less confused after reading this. but from what i gather, if i enjoy bolting and unbolting things(which i do) then i should find the best price for the scorpion product and use it.
thank you to both of you. you have no idea what it means for others who are in the know, to take such an interest in a very beginner question.
thanks especially to torqu1st, your posts have taught me more than you know. and as an update, youhelped me fix an oil pressure problem and its still running grat. i think it's time to switch to synthetic, about 7000 miles now.
i found the roller rockers for $250.00, is that good? and is it worth it in mpg and hp terms?
Ok here, the $300 for the roller conversion on the motor imo is not worth it. On a highly modififed or race motor yes. But if you like bolting and unbolting whatever, you can get the crane conversion depending on pushrod size and then you can get any roller rockers you want! It just so happens the crane energizer are about the cheapest at $196 and the coversion kits are $80. The kit comes with a black link that will sit in the mounts and the stud supplied go thru the guideplate and the pushrod goes where it belongs. Some roller rockers are for different situations. Get some for hydraulic lifters and i do believe they need to be adjusted for inital setup.
I paid about $200 for my Scorpion rockers and you don't need guideplates or stud conversions then. Not to often you can spend $100 less and get better parts. Check on eBay for the Scorpion rockers. You may be able to search the web for the dealers also. The Ford Motorsport units run more $$ but they are a pretty blue color. -hehe
hey matt just what i was thinking also i want a peeping window into the lifter valley to keep an eye out
how heat resistant is lucite?? thats "bullet proof glass" right
think 2 peices thru bolted should work but gotta rig a dripper tho for the valve covers
guess the longing to whatch my lifters pound away is my 15th personality mr. 335 science
maddog racing aka fastengineparts.com sells scorpion roller rockers on ebay or they have the website. i don't know how torque managed to set them up without a conversion.
i had roller rockers on another vehicle i owned (name ommitted) but i'd use them on any motor i built nowdays (thats the plan) their not cheap (check out http://www.yellaterra.com.au/application.php they do some wicked stuff its what was on my last motor
I looked at some of those Yella Terra units b4 I found the scorpions. For a while they seemed to be the only people around except Ford that had them. At the time they were having distribution problems in the US and it would have cost some major $$ to get them here.
