I know this has been covered hundreds of times in FTE land but I have not found alot on shocks for Expys alone. I was just wondering if any of you guys could give me some personal experience with Either the Rancho RS-5000 or the Blisteens. I have just about ruled out Monroes, but if anyone has anything good to say about them I am willing to listen. I only tow a 2 to 3K utility trailer and only light off roading, like on the beach at the Outer banks 1 or 2 times a year. Thanks, Dan
I put on Bilsteins about 2 months ago. The ride didn't feel any different but there was a big difference in turns. Out here in West Texas the speed limit is 70 on the 2 lane roads. The handling on curving roads at higher speeds was a priority and I've been totally satisfied.
I just recently had the Bilsteins installed on my 99 XLT 4X4 and I haven't noticed any difference from the factory shocks. My advice, save your money, buy a decent shock (something that you can get locally and for less then $275 shipped) and put the extra cash into another mod or your pocket.
There is a HUGE difference between the factory shocks and Bilsteins in handling. The sway is just about all but gone on curves. As for the ride, the billsteins are a little firmer than stock. Remember another point, if you buy Bilsteins, they will be the last shocks you buy as they have a lifetime warranty.
Well as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, I guess. The Blisteins are a little more expensive than I wanted but if they have a lifetime warranty then that would make up for it I guess. Thanks for all the input guys. Dan
