Rancho RS 9000

I just order a set of these shock for my 1976 F150 4x4 with a 2" lift kit.
Is anyone running Rancho RS 9000 shocks on their trucks ?
How's the ride after the shocks installation?

I know a few guys from the off road forums who are running the same shocks, and off road frequentally, and they love the adjust from inside the cab for when they're going over some rough stuff. But as far as on road, adjusted right, they feel just like the RS5000

I've run them on a couple of trucks, but not on my Ford yet. You can tailor your ride just the way you like it and firm them up in the rear when you are towing or have a load.

Just like all Rancho's, they take a while to break in and ride better after a few months.

On this truck I ride both off road and on road, and I thought it would be nice to adjust the ride quality for each occassion. I have upgrade the front axle to quad shock setup taken off a 1978 Ford Bronco.

This truck has the old shocks absorbers, every time I go offroading the ride is very uncomfortable because the shocks are worn. I ordered the RS 99009 9 way adjustable (Rancho 9000)f or the rear with a compression of 16.00 inches and extension of 26.125 inches. On the front axle front shock I ordered a RS 99017 (Rancho 9000) with a compression of 15.500 inches and extension of 25.125 inches with an Rancho 5000 shocks on the front axle rear shock.

I have them on my suburban, set to 3. I'm happy with them. Have had them for 4 years now.

Got the Quad shock setup on front axle, order a pair of RS 9000x for the front shock mounts and RS 5000 for the rear shock mounts on front axle. Well post with results.

I need to reset the the steering bump stops on axle. The tires were rubbing on the two front shock when off roading after installation.

Set the Rancho RS 9000 to setting one (1) on the forest road which was full of wash boards. The shocks and suspension was comfortable at slow speeds and was very smooth at faster speeds (45+ mph).

Setting of four (4) on front pair on front axle and setting of four (4) or rear shocks, the drive on highway is comfortable.

The overloads rear leafsprings make the rear suspension a bit stiff on the highway, will need to fine tune the rear shocks setting for highway driviing.

5000 or 9000

I am about to put shocks on my 77 F-150 with either 4" or 6" lift (I have to measure to be sure) I am considering the Rancho and was wondering whether the 9000's are worth the extra expense?. I will be doing some long distance driving and also some trail riding and I am sure I will find mud from time to time.
Also, how dififcult is it to adjust the 9000's?

Peace.

This original post is almost a year old. Anyway, the 9000's are easy to adjust, either turn a **** located on the body of the shock, or buy the in cab panel, that allows the operator to make adjustments to both front, or rear shocks from inside. Super easy.
Some of those guys mentioned dual shocks. Know that the 9000 is valved for single shock applications, and even at the lowest setting, installing 4 of them up front might get a little rough on the road.

Like 75F350 says there is a **** on the lower part of the shock with the numbers 1-5 on it. All you do is rotate the **** to your desired ride.

The shock setup on the 1976 4x4 F150 has the dual shocks per side on the front axle.
One RS 5000 and RSX 9000 per side
The rear axle has the RX 9000 RSX and setting 1. I enjoy the ride of the truck, and the truck has some very good rebound.

Here is a picture of the shock setting dial. The RSX 9000 shock has 9 settings.

These shocks can be dialed in for a soft or firm ride.

Very nice photo, as they say a picture is worth a thousand words. I have a radius arm bar replacement with a dual mount, but I think I am going to start out with 4 9000's and if I find I want more then I will replace radius arm bar and get 2 more shocks. I found a deal for 4 with the RSX system for 470 which seems good compared to what I have been looking at.
