I'm running Ford motorsport shorties and like them alot, they are made of 409 stainless steel and should last a long time. They cost a bit more but to me they are worth it.
They should bolt up (Because a 302 is a 302 is a 302), but there is no guarantee they will bolt to your Y pipe (probably wont in fact). Why not just buy an application specific set of headers, and have no worries about fitment?
Did you ever get a set of summit headers and if so how did you make out with them??
Yeah i got some. They are actually made by pace setter. The bolts loosen up every once in a while but thats normal. When I put them in they didn't quite bolt up to my stock y-pipe. I had to saw it in half by the tranny and weld it back together to relieve some tension to get them to bolt to the collectors. Also they have 02 bungs in them that you need to plug and weld.
Thanks alot for the reply , did you have any noticeacle power increase..??
It's kinda tough to tell. At first I thought I could tell but I also changed my head gaskets and had my heads milled so that may have contributed to it. You can definetly feel that they flow better though.
I just ordered a set of Flowtech "shorty" headers part# 91627FLT for my '89 F150 w/302 can I use any trpe of loctite product on the bolts or is there to much heat that will cause problems later on. I also have some spray CopperKote that i used on a steal headgasket, can I use this on the gaskets for a better seal?
