Tuesday replaced cps. Truck drove fine for 2 days. This morning it would not turn over. Towed to mechanic. Computer says it is the sensor. Anyone had this happen before? Is there anyway to actually test the sensor?
you have to compare the original sensor to new sensor for correct length. if it is too long you'll damage the sensor or if it is too short you'll experience hard starting.
either way, double check everything..wiring..sensor..etc..etc..
cam sensor will not cause a no start (crank) situation.
Wait, I'm confused here. I thought that a bad CMP would not let the engine run at all. Crank on the starter all day long and no start. Are you talking about the CMP not killing the starter?

Unless we understood his original post, the engine is turning over but won't start. A faulty CMP Sensor will not keep the engine from turning over, but it won't fire.
TommyH first off WELCOME to the forum. A little more info on the truck would be helpful, does it have a chip? If so make sure it is not loose, check fuse #22 under the hood, if the fuel heater came loose it could have blown the fuse which also controls the PCM. Does the tach move when the engine is turning over? If not you could have gotten a bad CMP.
Goto user CP in the header and fill out your signature with all the info on your truck it'll help in trying to diagnose problems.
If you have a bad Cam sensor the engine will turn over but wont start. It will not cause a no start(crank) situation. Basically, if the engine will not turn over dont look at the cam sensor look somewhere else.
