I was all set to get the scab. I rarely haul the kids, and when I do it's usually just one somewhere around town. All of a sudden the wife starts talking about getting a camper and now we're looking at extended trips with the kids in back. Ended up getting the screw. I was worried about giving up a foot of bed length, but so far it hasn't been a factor. We lost a couple of trees in a recent storm and had to make two runs with debris. Having the 6.5 bed wouldn't have made a difference. I also hauled some 4x8 lattice for a friend the other day and it fit just fine with the tailgate down. Tailgate is going to have to be down on the 6.5 bed also. I do think the scab looks better with the longer bed, though the screw is by no means ugly, especially in fire truck RED! So far I've been REALLY happy with the screw. Only you can decide what's best for you, but hopefully this give you some food for thought.
I just bought my supercrew and when I was shopping around I adjust the driver seat to where I would have it while driving then I would set in the back seat with the doors closed at 6' 2" I could feel a big difference in the space. I bought mine while on vacation in S.A. TX and drove back to AR with wife and 4 kids. Really love the Screw.

I almost got the SC but finally decided to get the Screw and have had it for just over a week. I'm so glad i did. I love this truck. With 2 small boys (5 yrs and 16 mos.) the 2 car seats would have eaten up the entire rear of the SC.
Just installed an Access tonneau and a Bedrug. These things are great!!!! It's like having more interior room!
Wiseman say "it is better to have to much room than not enough". I went with the Screw- the price difference was negl. compared to the gain in room. Also depends if you can live with the 5.5 bed.
