Take a Look...please.
302 V8 5L
Has been modded from Manual to Automatic Transmission C6 I imagine?
Has the trans fluid dipstick of Ford Van. Might be an Older 302?
I was truckin' down I-24 when I spot my exit yonder ways. I say to myself... time to pull to the side there.
Truck says "Fine by me, but I'm not idling or shifting down for ya."
"WHOA Buddy," I said. "Not here, not now."
Thar she went fighting 'gainst me the whole way. I was pressing that brake pedal like there was no tomorrow, and she was laughing the entire time at a speed of 4000 rpm's. 'Bout that time the genius in me spoke up and said "put 'r in neutral." I did just that and continued that process until I got home.
Accelerate, Drive, Slow-down (while she screams), Shift to neutral (she calms), Stop. Repeat...
When I look under the truck i see this (2 pics here) https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=11431
Is this my problem or has it been that way since it was converted to an automatic?
So am I to assume i can just connect those two back together with a bolt and grommet maybe, or are there precautions to take. Should the arm be in a certain position before hook up. I have all I need to make that truck stand still while I GETRDONE!
Anyways, you can see I am no truck guru and need basic guidance (and I'm okay with that) so any help and commentary is once again greatly appreciated.
Ya'll come back now ya hear!
). At the same time if your adjustment is incorrect, or if the rod is not connected to the tranny like now, the rod itself can hold your throttle open causing the engine to rev.Once you get it connected at the tranny have someone assist you by stepping the pedal to the floor while you check the kickdown lever for movement (or stick them with the dirty job and put them under the truck
). All the adjustment will be right at the carb. IF your carb is not set up for a kickdown rod you can go to a cable kickdown, like Lokar, that can be fitted to any system. OR you can always pull the rod and just downshift manually . . . but then you'd defeat the whole purpose of an auto.
