E4OD OFF LIght Flashing??

after bragging how good my truck has been to me, I took her for an hour and a half drive today, and when i got off the highway (doing 70 the whole 1.5 hrs) i came to a light and my Off light started flashing..
She shifts still thru all the gears and the convertor locks up, Only difference
is she shifts harder into second and i can fell here down shift more firmer
when slowing down.
What can I do?? Is there a way to pull the code?

You didn't say whether your speedo was still funtioning but on my '99 this happened 4-5 times since 42,000. I have 106+ now and it hasn't happened in 20,000 miles maybe. In my case it is the speed sensor located on the rear end. When it happened to me (after discovering what it is.) I ignore it till I can shut if off and restart and it always goes back to normal.

I have a 96 and the trans. did the same thing so I took it in to ford and they said it was a selinoid of some sort and the truck had 120k. One week later it did the same thing took it back and ford said that I needed a new trani. I desided to do a filter and fluid chang but I did not flush it just changed fluid in the pan and cleaned the magnet in the bottom of the pan, lots of metal on the magnet. I then drove down the road and about 2 miles the blinking light went off and stayed off for about 30k and it happend again so I did the same thing only earlier. now the truck has 240k on same trani. I am the original owner of truck. I did get a micro tuner and it does shift better and I chang filter,fluid in pan every 10k miles before the blinking light and hard shifts come back.

I have gotten away with it on fluid and filter chang. I am lucky but it was worth a try and cheaper than fords price of 2,800 dollers. So when it fails I will be ready to replace it with an after market trani.
