Remote Start Help

I was going to have my dealer order a remote start kit for an '05 Expedition. He is confused as to which one to order. I was wanting the remote start that uses the same key fob to operate the doors and start the vehicle. I'm unsure of the differences between the different levels involved with these systems.

The dealer is not sure if the remote start can be ordered without the alarm system in order to get all the functions on one key fob.

They use the two remotes that come with the remote start system. Those two remotes operate the door locks and remote start and you can put your originals away since they wont operate the remote start system. You can order the system without alarm system, and that is the way most are ordered that I have installed. He can call 1-800-FORDKEY if he is confused.

Thanks Homer,

He claimed that the remote start system he was looking at just had a 2 button key fob. I'll tell him that's not the right one. Could you supply the part # so I can make sure he orders the correct one?

Thanks, Dan

This is the exact kit I am thinking of ordering for our 04 EB. From looking at the pictures of the fob, it appears you loose the ability to open the rear glass. Is this correct?

Also, what functions to you get with this kit? I know remote start/keyless entry. But can you control other functions such as turn on/off heat and A/C. Control the AC/heat for the seats, etc?

Also, do these kits come with instructions so the consumer can install them?

I know these are a lot of questions but really do appreciate any input.

Thank you!
Chris

Yes you do lose the ability to open the glass with the remote.
I had mine wired so the "rear defogger" feature can either activate the heated seats and rear defogger or the cooled seats. (Through a "summer/winter" switch.

Remote Start Help

Hey guys. I am an installer for the Commercial Content Removed here in Kansas City. I install at least 5 or more of these systems a day. During the winter time at least 10 or more a day.

The new Ford Remote start system is packed full of features.

Today I worked on a 04 Navigator. This guy bought every feature available. This is the following options available for the new system

1. Turn on Rear Defrost ( After starting with blue button press again to turn defrost on)

2. Motorized hatch release ( Navigator only)

3. Rear Glass release ( this option is only available if the customer doesn't want driver priority unlocking where the driver door unlocks first. Silly Code alarm uses the same output for either trunk release or driver door unlock. Next version is supposed to have both available )

4. Motorized Running boards ( Navigator only )

5. Turn on headlight

6. His/Hers seat memory

Standard install for us is remote start/security with trunk release. Prices removed. I guess money was no option for this guy. I also installed two 7" widescreen headrest monitors, fold out monitor with DVD/navigation and a rear backup camera. Guys total bill was like $5000.00 or more I'm sure after the dealer added his cut into it...lol
