you guys really need to shop around, i managed to get a Sueprchip 1714 for my 04 F150 and a complete Airaid intake kit shipped to my door for under $600.00 that was due to the fact that they advertised the Absolute lowest prices GUARANTEED!!!!, well i found somebody who had it cheaper and they matched it within legal limits for the sale of the Superchips microtuner. so figure everyone else can get the combo package for just a bit over $600.00, if anyone is interested, i will contact the guy and see if he is willing to setup a "group buy" price. i am new to this forum, used to be an Explorer guru, so if am violating any rules, i do apologize. Ken
We try to buy from motorhaven so as to support FTe and keep Ken in a job. In return, Ken gets us discounts on products and offers beta testing for things for us.
ahhh, well not to step on anyones toes. sorry. but maybe he would be willing to try to line up something else along those lines and for that price as well. ??????
Yeah, you need to apologize --- big time. I suggest you go use that company's forums to discuss it rather then spend my money (ie, the bandwidth the site uses and the staff to maintain it) telling people to go to my competition. Would you pull this kind of crap live, face to face with a merchant in his shop?
MotorHaven will beat anyone legitimate dealer's price on a Superchips Microtuner. You need to call because Superchips does not allow anyone to advertise under a certain price. Or you can put in coupon code 1000 at checkout for an unadvertised discount (it will still give you a chance to back out of the order).
Ken I appreciate all the help you give. I do have a concern, I like most here bought a 1714 from motor haven. Shipped and received as told but I had to send it back in for an update....Superchips or you never said that there might be updated codes and some might have to be shipped back.
Super chip knew this but did not tell us before they released the tuner...Now I don't mind being a Guinea pig but we should be compensated IMO. This was not good business practice. I am still waiting for mine.
With all Microtuners for Fords, Superchips releases a tuner with all the codes they have reads for at the time the make the tuner (they often get people's vehicles in for reads and there is a ECM shop they rent them from as well, I know because I've dealt with that ECM shop as well). No end customer is a guinea pig.
Why the need for updates? Ford makes periodic revisions to ECM codes for most of their vehicles (Lightnings and Cobras are an exception, they have very few ECM codes) as issues with tuning are identified. With the first year or so of a new vehicle (such as the 2004 F-150) there are naturally more revisions. After that, there have been enough vehicles in production that the small (and occasionally large) issues have been corrected.
If you still believe someone owes you compensation I suggest you consider that it Ford Motor Company that keeps producing new PCM codes rather than getting it right the first time, not us. Not really fair to label me, MotorHaven or Superchips this way when Ford Motor Company decides to put out a new PCM code (and they don't give the aftermarket advance warning or copies of the PCM code).
Don't get your feathers ruffled up. I did read the post and understand it completely, my concern was we were not told at the time of purchase that's all I was talking about. A little "heads" up would have been sufficient.
