Worth $100?-Superchips 1815
The tuner displays my trucks VIN, but still says the unit is VIN locked (not sure if that's even relevant). Could be the PO used it on another vehicle, or the dealership re-flashed the ECU when they turned it around... either way, Superchips will want to charge me the $100 to unlock the programmer I'm sure.
I'm mostly interested in making sure the vehicle is back to "stock," but don't want to pay $100 just to find out it was already reset to "stock" by the Ford dealer anyway.
So, is the rest of the functionality of the Superchips 1815 worth the $100? I know there are newer/better programmers around the $300 mark, but I'm not looking to spend that either. If I can actually get some better performance or fuel economy with the 1815, I'm happy to pay the unlocking fee. However, I'm always skeptical of generic programmers working as advertised...
Thanks for any input.
