Does anyone know a good place to get a new radiator for a 1994 4.0L Ranger, automatic transmission? Should I just get one from the dealer or is there a better alternative? Also does anyone know the correct size? I've heard there are 2 different sizes for this year truck.
I bought a new Modine in late 2002 from Schucks Auto Supply (94 Ranger 4.0L 5 spd, A/C); I think it was around $130. Why deal with used (typically 1/2 the cost of new) and all the miles/fatigue on it when new in the box is so reasonable? As for size, I always buy the largest I can get. Rigs with A/C often have larger radiators.
I agree, these days when it comes to a failed radiator, buying new is almost always the better value. You can get a good name brand unit (GDI or Modine) from AutoZone, Schucks, Advance Auto, Napa, etc. that will come with lifetime guarantee (save your receipt).
FYI, the rads for the Rangers with auto trannies will cost a bit more than those for the 5 speed. Shop around locally, prices will probably be competitive...
