Most flex fans are not very efficient unless they are at very low rpms, for stock applications I would stay with the clutch style, although not very pretty it cools much better
I replaced my stock fan with a flex and it took my temp on hot summer days down quite a bit, but since my truck doesn't have a fan shroud and never was set up with one, i put a spacer an the fan to put it closer to the radiator, this helps temp stay perfect all the time, even goin 70-75 down the interstate(no overdrive).
Anyone else that's used a flex fan please reply, I got 1 for and 1 against. I would like to get a flex fan if it helps keep the engine cooler at 50 bucks it's definately worth it to me. I'm not overheating or anything it's just that the cooler and more lubricated an engine is the longer it should last. Well too cold isn't good but I live in Tucson so it doesn't drop below the 60's very often. Lately it's been getting over 100*.
The Flex Fan will cost you some power but does keep your engine cooler by moving more air. I think that you would be fine with it, if your installing it on the 2-wheel drive you have listed.
A flex will staighten out as rpms increase providing very little cooling, a clutch type fan will always provide consistent air flow, Yes vehicle speed will also increase cooling, like any other part on your vehcle it must match the application it is being used for most flex fans should provide adequate cooling capacity, try and get the largest one that will fit
