Question 6.0L shuts down

First post
I just bought a 04 6L 4X4 supercab Lb xl 6sp not two weeks ago, i work construction and this my new work truck. I have owned only fords all my driving years.
I already love the truck with only 1400 mi but with 1250 miles it began to "shut down" for 1-5 seconds while in the throtle in 1,2 or 3rd gear. it never has happened in 4th or 5th or when the engine is cold.the motor never died but just stopped going. the water in fuel light and sometimes the glow plug light will come on for a few seconds.
the dealer, of course could not get it to do it but was nice enough to install a "flight recorder" and allow me to take it home. it did the same thing that night 4 times in a row. i'll take it back monday or tuesday to see if anything was captured on the recorder.
thanks for any advice...........JOE

Take it to another dealer. Problems like this indicate a chafed harness or sensor/actuator problems.

Dont you think the take it to another dealer line is getting a little old not everyone has unlimited dealers to tak it to, I think it would be more helpful to post what you might think problem is and let them try to work it out where they are. and switch dealers as a option on down the road after they went through the steps outlined in the owners manual,I have been to all the dealers in my area and none of them have been able to resolve my problems it seems ford is way behind on getting the techs, any training on the 6.0. which is causing major problems.

reno...you'll be fine...get your truck...drive it...keep your eyes & ears open...have fun.

If you have any issues there will be plenty of folks here, capable and happy to help. Even though we argue amoungst ourselves from time to time. As in most families.

Welcome to FTE.

IMO it is worth any distance to take the truck to a competant dealer.

As a side note, the "find another dealer" answer is becoming standard issue for those of us who are tired of trolls. This in turn subtracts from the helpfulness of this forum, however you can blame the trolls themselves. After so many intentional misleadings, (and yes, there are lots of trolls here. we have confirmed it and know who many of them are) people tend to get annoyed and suspicious at any general questions asked by anyone new. This is rather tragic for our forum, however that is just how things have seemingly worked out.

you're right PSD....
it is unfortunate because we COULD help...
given that...
isn't it simply stunning that SUCH a coincidence could occur?
TWO trucks having the exact same problem that few have heard about and
TWO people just happened to stumble onto this site at the same time and
just happened to find the same thread ....

This and the v-10 vs psd "discussion" is better than PBS

It's awfully ironic too that they both signed on for thier first times at the same time and have not returned since...

Silly trolls...they act like they think we don't know who they are
Anyone ever heard of an IP address?

My 6.0L shut down this weekend. I passed a motorcycle and was up to 80mph. Motor shut down at that speed. Dealer says a fuel pressure sensor went out. I could crank, but no fumes or fire. Had to have it hauled on the back of a Chev. Dealer tow truck.

Hey Joe:
I had the same problem w/ mine. Same symptoms as you. i took it to my dealership and they found the problem. It is a wiring harness on the left valve cover bolt that became chafed. the repair ticket says id C1064 51-9 wiring assembly repair
other ckt1064 yewh ect to pcm

they performed a full diagnostic check and repaired the wiring harness. No problems since. i hope this helps.. Maybe your dealer can translate the work order numbers.

Just Returned From The Dealer...
The "flight Recorder" Only Recorded 1 Instant And I Pushed The Button 5 Times So This Tells Them The Computer Is Shutting Down And I Push The But. Even Thoughtton And The Flight Recorder Can't Find The Computer To Record Anything. So This Tells Them It Is A Chafed Wiring Harness Or Sodier Joint In The Computer. After Hearing This From A Few Of You Guys, It Really Makes Me Conifident That It Will Be Fixed Soon.
The Tech Road With Me With The "big" Computer Hooked Up And You Guessed It, It Didn't Do It. Even Though It 3 Times Today, 2 Times On The Way To The Dealer.
The Tech Said He Has Fixed A Excursion Psd(it Took A Wiring Har And Comp To Fix It) And Another 250 Psd(har Only) Also Ford Has Bulletins W/photos On The Problem Spots.
We Leave To Tow A Camper To The Beach On Sat, I Sure Hope It Is Fixed Soon!!!
