Wow, great MPG. How are you figuring it? I do hope you mean you're calling roadside assistance.
I am really impressed with the fuel mileage myself, my 2001 7.3 only got about 15-17mpg. I calculate the mpg's with a caluclator after fueling up. I had heard that the on-board calculator was not accurate but mine appears to be right on the money.
On my old truck I had some big tires that I think hurt my mileage and on this truck I have the Pirelli Scorpion tires, I think that helps out a lot, especially with the quality of the ride.
Sounds like my 04 , mine is starting to do while driving it after lefting off the gas then complete shuts down like no fuel... then when you get back on the gas after stopping you can barely here the engine running and it jumps back and forth with no pick-up.
I have to cut the engine off and on again to get it to run.
I dropped mine off at the dealership this morning, they said it was most likely a sensor. I'll post results when I get it back.
Don't take this wrong I hope it is a sensor, and not a chaffing issue...that tells me Ford is working out some of these problems and as we all know parts like a sensor can go bad...on any brand.

OK...I got my baby back from the shop, when I went to pick it up I was told that the dealership's computer was down so the service writer was unable to tell me what was wrong. They finally faxed the invoice to the house and I am unable to decifer most of it!
Maybe some of you guys will know what this means, I'll type out some of the items...

Went to the Oregon coast this weekend for a weekend of riding horses, only to have it die again. I am glad that I had my friend pull the horse trailer with their 96' PSD. The service manager says that he will work with Ford to get me another identical truck since they have not been able to cure the problem.
Where is the engine build date? The tag on the valve cover has the numbers 4945 / 7175 / 2 and the truck has an assembly date of 12/03
The engine build date is on the FICM on the driver side valve cover to the rear. I have to get on a step stool with a flashlight to see it. See http://www.backglass.org/duncan/ps60...l/ps60_008.jpg to see what it looks like.

How many times what conditions and all...this will help us.
I picked up the new 6.0 F350 end of June. I noticed that the truck seemed to idle rough, but dismissed it as needing some break in time. I thought, wow this is okay I got a newer truck and everything would be great! You guessed it! Now I have a 04 that the engine shuts down. I have gone from BAD to DEATH TRAP! The 1st time it happened was 7/24 (1090 miles) just left house, within 3 mile range, going downhill on a curve. I was able to get it pulled over and stopped and it started right back up. I took it to the local dealer on Monday and they looked it over and called Tuesday afternoon and said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I picked it back up Tuesday night. I left the house on Wednesday 7/28 and for the 2nd time it did it again at approximately the same location and distance. It was scarier as the shoulder was narrower and harder to pull over and stop. I used my cell phone and called the service adviser and told him it happened again and would be bringing right down. Once again the local dealer refused to service the truck!!! So now I had to drive the un-safe truck 50+ miles to the original dealer I got it from! It is at the original dealer now </O

You have to issues going on her...one the truck…it can and will be fixed, a...sensor or chaffed wiring...I am not making light of your problem…it can be fixed and is real scary when it happens…but much easier to fix then the dealership problem.
Now the other issue, what is the name of the dealer that refused you service........call Ford with both names, person and dealership. IMO after you do that then call for the owner of the lousy dealership.
This type of stuff cannot go on without being challenged.
Just received a call from the dealer 8/4 an they said the NEW program that was installed should take care of the engine shutdown. I asked him why they think this will fix it and he told me that the computer is shutting down. I also asked if this was going to disable my piolte injection and he said no that was some of the earlier programs. So I pick it up today. I'll keep my fingers crossed this works.
As for the issue on my local dealer. They refused service on my 03 that I had previously. See my post on DSB. I let Ford know about it then and the dealer deined it! When it happened again this time I called the service manager and asked him what his warranty policy was. He said on the 6.0 because there are so many issues they are having the customers take them back to the dealer they purchased them from. He also said his guys are beating thier heads against a wall trying to fix them and that ford has no fix, blah, blah, blah. Of course I told him what I thought! I will report it again and see what happens.
Let me ask you something........did it start back up after you released your foot on the gas pedal or should I say diesel pedal and then try to accellerate again? If it did...then you had the same problem I had in April..
