26 ..... My dad'd been chewing and smoking (slowed down the smoking due to emphysema starting) since he was 13, and he's 56 now, with no signs of cancer.......l. Just had a little boy, so when he gets older and starts wanting to act like a big boy and have a chew, I'll quit.
Emphysema, NO PROBLEM, DUDE!!! Watch that work for a few years and write us back.
Your young son will start picking things up by about 3 to 6 months.
Congrats on the son, by the way. It is really great to have a son.
I started dipping. Probably the best thing the Army gave me.
Yea, same here. I diped a lot in Highschool and the years following. Then quit. Then joined the Army and started again, then quit. So far I'm good. Now and again I get the itch for some Copenhagen (my first true love) especialy with the cool 'Texas Tradition' caps, but I've been able to fight it off so far.
I did....back through 9th and midway through 10th grade, dropped the habit and on my 18th birthday I picked me up a can. Three days later someone dear to me reminded me why I quit in the first place...Quitting again was even harder, I was ILL the next couple of days.
yeah i dip quite heavily for only being 17 years old, i have sores all over my mouth and stuff, i would giv anything to quit but i just cant.......anyone have any suggestions on how to?
Yeah, I started in highschool, 25 now. When I was in highschool I worked in a feed mill, making horse and cattle feed. With all the grain that was stored in the place it was always dusty. I mean dust something off and come back five minutes later and it's covered dusty, especially when we were getting a grain delivery. Anyway with all the dust your mouth was constantly dry. Everyone else there dipped to keep moisture in thier mouth so I started too. I dipped in school also, usually used an empty pint milk carton for a spitter.
The scare-tactics that they use to make you not use that stuff in high school works - when I saw the guy with half a jaw give us a speech on chewing, I decided I should probably quit.
This is gross but I was a pure redneck girl all through school and me and in middle school me my cowboys would all sit the 4-h angus steer barn fence and do the Redman thing. i could chew and spit with the best of them. I was always one of the guys. Then I got ***** and things changed. I quit the redman but not hanging out with the cowboys. I picked up cigs a few years later and quit those too. Dont drink either (except for an occaisional glass of wild berry wine) Now I have only one addiction...me...hubby..AROOOOOOOOOOOO! LOL
I tried it once. I actually liked it. Back when I was in grade 12, my class went on a camping trip. Some other dudes brought some Skoal and offered me some, so I tried it. Mint flavour if I recall. Not bad. So I used it for the whole weekend. But I never picked it up again.
dipped for 7 yrs
at one point in time the price of a can in my area shot up to almost $8 so I finished the can i had and quit
thank goodness I did too .... I have so much more money to put a way.
I was going thru 2 cans every 3 days
I started back in 1981. Both my parents smoked, my grandparents smoked, But i had this uncle, he was always spitting like them old cowboy movies. I wanted to look as cool as him. So I started chewing Beechnut, Redman, Levi Garret. But Mom would always catch me spitting or see that big 'ol lump in my cheek. So the next time I stopped at the store, I picked up a can of Happy Days for $0.43. I loved this stuff. But when they dicontinued it in the late 80's, I tried all of the other fine cuts but finnmally settled on Copenhagen. I too loved the morning buzz but since I had already been doing this stuff awhile, I eventually stopped spitting. I have cut back to a can a week and will eventually quit when the mood strikes. I refuse to give up my only vice. It only costs me $273 a year. Insurance costs 4 times that a year!
Started chewing Red Man when I was 13. Switched to Golden Blend when that came out. Had to switch to dip when I developed a sweet tooth that the chew seemed to irritate. Quit smoking seven times so far (easiest thing I've ever done! Also too easy to start back again!). My dad is 73 and his doctor finally said something about his smoking. He quit cold turkey and never flinched! He started smoking when he was nine years old! CAMELS.
Quite possibly the most disgusting thing one can do with there mouth. Have a friend that chews and man when he spits that crap out i just want him dead. Nasty nasty stuff. Now i feel ill.....
