Since the fuel systems are different on pre 99's and Superduties, I didn't know there even was a shrader valve on the Superduties. If John says so, it must be there. I haven't caught him wrong yet.
I am beginning to think there is not one on the late models. Not trying to dispute John either. Mine is a different setup than the 97. Where my dad's valve is located is where John said. My right side of the fuel filter housing is almost blank compared to his. Late model FPR is a lot different than the 97. May be due to mechanical vs. electrical fuel pump. Maybe I can find it.
Is the scrader valve supposed to leak if the cap is off? I went to test my pressure today and I took off the cap, went to start the engine (and did) and then returned to find diesel spurting out of the valve. Is this normal on a 97 F250 PSD?
Ok. I bought a valve stem tool and tightened it up. Do these valve cores tighten until they stop? Mine seemed like it would keep going forever, so I stopped before I bottomed out.
It did stop the leaking, which is great peace of mind not having that thin plastic cap keeping all the fuel off my engine? (Is diesel prone to igniting from a hot engine?)
So now I see my pressure max out at 60psi, so I'll be shimming a little to get to 75 or 80.
