Fuel Schrader Valve Location

Where or is there a fuel pressure test port on my 01?

It should be on the fuel pressure regulator to the right side of the fuel bowl as you face the truck.

Thanks John! I have seen it there on my Dad's 97, but I have yet to find it on my 01.

Thanks
Steve

Since the fuel systems are different on pre 99's and Superduties, I didn't know there even was a shrader valve on the Superduties. If John says so, it must be there. I haven't caught him wrong yet.

I am beginning to think there is not one on the late models. Not trying to dispute John either. Mine is a different setup than the 97. Where my dad's valve is located is where John said. My right side of the fuel filter housing is almost blank compared to his. Late model FPR is a lot different than the 97. May be due to mechanical vs. electrical fuel pump. Maybe I can find it.

Thanks
Steve

You should have stuck to your guns, John. You had me believing you.

Someone told me today that there is a 1/8 pipe plug in the fuel rail somewhere so you can install a valve in. May have to do that.

Thanks Everyone!

Is the scrader valve supposed to leak if the cap is off? I went to test my pressure today and I took off the cap, went to start the engine (and did) and then returned to find diesel spurting out of the valve. Is this normal on a 97 F250 PSD?

No, it's not normal. I'd try to tighten it a little, using a valve stem wrench.

I'll try tightening it. It doesn't leak past the cap when the cap is on, but I can't imagine that leaking is good.

Worst case scenario, it's a bad valve. Do these take some special kind of valve core? or can I pick one up at any tire shop?

Ok. I bought a valve stem tool and tightened it up. Do these valve cores tighten until they stop? Mine seemed like it would keep going forever, so I stopped before I bottomed out.

It did stop the leaking, which is great peace of mind not having that thin plastic cap keeping all the fuel off my engine? (Is diesel prone to igniting from a hot engine?)

So now I see my pressure max out at 60psi, so I'll be shimming a little to get to 75 or 80.
