I did the search and checked the tech article, I am putting intermittent wiper switch in my 79 and evidently there is a wire that need's to be moved to allow the squirter's to work. Anyone know which wire need's to go where? Thanks
There are 2 wires to the pump. If you use a test light and find the hot wire then all you need to do is clip the other wire and ground the pump under the hood. The ground doesn't go through the newer switches.
On my '73 I took the washer wires (two wire part of the connector) and swapped the wires - use a small wire or pick to release the wires and they will slide out of the connector and snap back in. Once the wires were swapped it all worked great.
The reason 80 up delay wiper switch and delay box will not work (washers) in 73-79, is in 73-79 Ford used two power wires to the wiper switch, one for the wipers and one for the washers. 80 up uses one wire to power both wipers and washers Ford also changed the location of the output wire for the washers in the switch. 73-79 wiper switches will have seven terminals, 80 up will have six.
To use the 80 up switch and delay box on 73-79 you need to move one wire. Find the connector from the delay box that connects to the trucks wiring. Look at it from the wire side. Find the empty cavity. Move the wire (black w/white stripe) that is clockwise from the empty cavity by one position (next to the empty cavity) to the empty cavity. Now the washers will work
I will check that out zebrafive, I moved 1 wire on the switch end, grounded another wire and I have them now working all except for fast. I would imagine if I change it your way it should work fine. I'll keep you posted.
