I've got a '77 donor truck for the transmission to put in my '69. I've heard that you can tell alot about a tranny by where Reverse is. This is a 4-speed and reverse is right and up. I don't want a granny low, anybody know anything about this tranny?
Well, it's not an NP435. The other 4speeds used in those trucks were the T18 and T19 and I don't remember where reverse was on those trannys. All three of those have a granny low first gear. The T19's first gear was synchro'd and was not as low as the T18 or NP435. Look here for pictures and descriptions of those tranny's and a few others: http://www.motivegear.com/tech_info/...nny_guide.html

I read somewhere that older T18s were over and up, newer ones over and down. If you look at it, a T18 will have a 13 01 somewhere on it. Mine old one had it on the tailshaft. Hope this helps, Ted
I've got more info on this transmission. My dad swears up and down that it's a Dana. He said that the Dana trannies had a plate on the side for PTO and this one has that plate. This is coming out of a '77 F-100 Custom. He also says the rear end is a Spicer. Any input or opinions? Keep in mind that I'm converting from a 3 on the tree to 4 speed.
