My truck has been bucking and surging (intermittently) only after most of the day driving. The boost gauge swings back and forth, the truck will surge then loose power, after backing out of my driveway then selecting drive the truck falls flat on its face and goes nowhere. I took it to the dealer and they found no codes other than the PCM being unplugged . They could not duplicate the problem as I knew they wouldn't because it only happends to me at the end of the day. They flashed the truck as an only resort and now the truck still had a bucking problem today.
What do you think it the problem? BTW the module is not installed on the truck while I try to get this fixed.
The word around the forums is that it has to do with the EBP (exhaust back pressure) sensor. I have had the turbo spooling up and down going down the freeway. I found out that is only does it on a cold start. If you were to pull over and restart the truck, the problem goes away until the next cold restart. The other thing I noticed when it is doing this, the idle is really quiet and the EGT are higher than usual. It is like it is running rich or the pilot injection is back.
I still need to take the truck in to have this problem looked at again and to let the dealer know what I have found out. I think I am going to shoot a video of the boost gauge going up and down to show the dealer.
I've got the same surging/bucking issue with my truck but it typically only does it when I'm in Tow/Hual pulling my tailer. It seems to surge/buck if I hold rpm right before a shift point. Do you think replacing the EBP sensor will fix this problem?
