ok guy's, how are we all doing? good I hope. I recently purchased 4 brand
new brake rotor's for my truck. My truck is a 99' 250 SD 4x4 automatic
with a powerstroke. I went to install them, & the first time they rubbed
the caliper mount brackets & the backing plate on one side. But I think
the backing plate was just bent out a little, which caused it to rub. Any
how the second time I tryed to install them the anti rattle clips wouldn't
fit in place because they hit the rotor. But this was the side that is inside,
in other words the side that's not facing out to the side of the truck. My
question is, Can I shime the rotors about .060- .070 of an inch. That would
make them fit. What I planned on using for a shim is some 16 or 17 gauge
steel sheet. Sorry for the long winded story.
I think you have the wrong rotors they are about .070 different from the newer ones...
Mar 99 is the date I think..At least as far as I can remember....The hub bearings are different also
i thought that they'd be the same? Obviously not tho. So early 99 rotors aren't the
same as mid late 99's? I should've thought more about that before I just bought
cheap wrong rotor's.
yea lol. But can I shim them. I don't see what it would hurt but I haven't really
thought it out to see what could be harmed. even tho their the wrong ones I do
believe they'll work, Im pretty sure their the same outside diameter.
