depends on the final ratio, 110 should be around 70 mph. I have 3:08 rearend and at 75 mph (120 Kh) I am turning 2500 or just under and I am getting consistent 20 MPG and 350 or so m/tank.

With this being said I think you need to get to a shop for a complete tune up, plugs, wires, air filter etc, Also check for plugged cat converter and sensors gone bad. potentially even a bad computer. Only way to find is thru a complete diagnostic on a scope with computer link up.

Before you look for the rearend, look for the ratio you have its posted on driver door jamb or get out mark the driveshaft and mark the tire and count the revolutions its takes the drive shaft for 1 revolution of the tire. you should have 3:73 or 3:45 were soem of the options. But you are not far off from what I have and Again I have a 3:08 the highest you can get.

No point in investing in new axle ratio, in my opinion. Will be a GOOD while before you make up the difference in gas. You should do a tune up though of course if it's unusually low...

I figured you are getting 23.5 mpg. That is excellent for your truck. I would be happy with those figures! I get a tiny bit more with my 94 Ranger.

Going with 10km=6Miles & 1 Liter of gas x 4.54 = 1 imperial gallon then your milage is 6 miles per liter x 4.54 Liters per imperial gallon or 27.24 mpg.
US gallons are smaller (just like thier Footballs) 3.9 Liters = 1 US Gallon so 6x3.9=23.4 as Delta had allready listed.

The new 3.0 seems worse on gas than the older ones. My cousin has a 2002 3.0 in a 2wd Ranger and he swears he only gets 18 mpg on the highway. My 94 is much higher than that.

That's very true Delta, the weight of the 4x4 XLT is more than the 3 ltr should have... my wife has the 3ltr in her Ford compact car and sge get great pick-up and go and super gas mileage, but my truck does weight twice as much as hers,

Yaeh, the rpm's at 70 mph are not that high, I would let the axle alone and get a full tune-up including air and fuel filter changes. As mentioned, 23.5 mpg is pretty good for a 3.0, that is better than the 2004 model sticker mpg rating.

Something seems wrong in your numbers. 400 km's to the tank at 10km/L is a 40 L tank (~10.5 Gal). Is that right?

Lots Of Numbers Floating Around! I Understood You To Say About 400k To The Tank. Are Your Mileage Numbers Based On The About 400 K To The Tank Or Are You Actually Recording Your K's Driven And Litre's Purchased? A SMALL DIFFERENCE IN K'S OR LITRES CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN WHAT YOUR REAL ECONOMY IS.

One K Is Equal To 0.66 Miles. I Usually Think Of A K As 2/3 Of A Mile And That's Real Close. 3.785 Liters Are Equal To One Us Gallon. Imperial Gallons And Us Gallons Are Not The Same.

If Your Getting 10k/l Then Your Getting 6.6 Miles/liter And At 3.78 Litres Per Gallon Your Getting 24.98 Miles Per Gallon. To Me That's Great As I Get About 18mpg On My 98 4.0 4x4 Ranger.

if your truck has high mileage and the O2 sensors haven't been changed, I would recommend changing them. I have a '92 3.0 liter with 115k miles and I changed the sensors with improved performance and slight increase in mileage. Try it..it may help.

25 Miles Per Gallon.Thats great milage of a 3.0L.I still think the 3.0 needed to stay in cars ,it just aint got the power range needed for the RANGER.Go back to the 2.9 l for the RANGER.Just one of FORDS better ideas I guess.
