so what do you recommend i do, should i just go to my car audio store and see what they recommend for the sub i have, or should i just adjust the amp like you said and seal up all the corners and leaks on the box? then yo told me how to adjust the gain what do i do about the frequency? most of the time, i just have the sub turned off now because of the ratteling noise, you can hear it alot because i play alot of deep bass.

you can seal the box yourself for about 1.60, after you glue, let airdry for a few hours...use sparingly, too much will never dry. Lick your finger, and rub it in. Dont use silicone, vapor in silicone eats foam and whatnot.

A piece of double sided weather stripping around where the sub meets would help, seal up that terminal cup, freq at 50 or so.

I've read that the vapor in silicone is only during cure. Not after the silicone is setup and good to go.

You are correct, and if it was a fish tank, we would be fine. Silicone lacks the rigidity that is needed that liquid nails provides.

Then I guess I had better get a tube of liquid nails when I make my new sub box.

Having never used liquid nails before, how rigid does it setup? No flex or only very slight?

Rock hard, and sandable, even gorilla glue is better in that fashion now that you think of it. If you dont have two pieces where you want them and they are together for longer than 20 minutes.....game over, the wood will break and stay together before the bond will give.
