Plug gap??

Ive seen two different gap specs, .44 and .56. Which is correct? I would think that the bigger one is right, more gap, better burn. I have a stock ignition. Which one should I go for and not have to worry about damaging anything.

Me too, all the plugs Ive bought have been pre gapped. I just put them in and they seem to work fine

i tried that once with my mg and i had a girl over helping me. i didn't even think to gap them, i let her help me put them in, It turned out that was the reason i couldn't get it to start again. I always gap mine now. Only i don't think it would make as much of a difference in my truck.

It depends upon the engine and/or model year. .052-.056 is the correct gap on my 1994 5.0. The decal under the hood is the bible, not a Chiltons manual, not Haynes, not the spark plug company catalog and not the guy at the autoparts counter.

The fact that the plug is pre-gapped to .044 does not make it right. I had problems with my 1974 E-100 because of a too-small gap, hard starting and failed emissions test.
