My dealer offered me the ESP with a company called JM&A Group. I thought that it was Fords own plan that would be offered? But I guess this is a
Ford-backed plan???? I will ask them tommorrow. They offer 4 different ones, the Silver $1200, Gold $1300, Gold plus $1400, and Platinum $1800.
Does this sound like what is usually offered from a Ford dealer?
Do a search through this forum (and others) about the extended warranty. There are a few rare exceptions, but for the most part a non-Ford warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Basically, the underwriter goes out of business, and you're left with nothing. Unfortunately, the company that sold you the warranty gets to stay in business, reeling in more unsuspecting folks. They go with a new underwriter, which again goes bankrupt- it's a vicious circle. I've said many times: if it's not the factory-backed warranty, then I'd keep the 2 grand in the bank.
If it is offered by the dealership, then is it a factory backed plan or not?
The dealer can sell anything they want, Ford-backed or not. If the brochures and the contracts don't have the Ford blue-oval logo, then I'd say it's not a Ford-backed warranty. Ford has 4 plans: PowertrainCare, BaseCare, ExtraCare, and PremiumCare. They never use terms like Bronze, Silver or Gold.
