Hey I have a 2000 explorer sport. I want to put in a new exhaust system. So far i only found gibson single outlet sos system. Are there any others? or will i have to customize one myself? I wanted something more powerful then the single gibson. If i just added a flowmaster muffler and kept my other stock exhaust parts would it work good or is it unsafe? Please let me know. It's a 4.0L SOHC engine.. Sucks that my 2 door is so restrictive in certain ways :-(
Hey, I have a 1998 4 Door Explorer XLT V6 EFI Engine, and I want to put a better exhaust on mine too. I have found other exhaust arn't what I want. I also want to know what kind of muffler would fit my car to make it louder and add performance while keeping the stock exhaust. My other idea is have Midas Custom Bend me an exhaust and get a dual exhaust. If anyone has any ideas let me know.
Midas is crap! I wouldn't go to them for anything. You could replace your catalytic converter (2) on the X with a high peformance/flow one. It's not to expensive and will give you a "badder" sound and better performance as well. However i think it's illegal unless you have 50k miles and up on your car or unless yours is broken. Check here http://www.xtremeflow.com/catalyticconverters.htm
Hey thanks man, thats was the other option I was thinking about. I want to know what kind of muffler would also give me that "badder" sound and more performance? Aight W/B.
i think that website has mufflers on it as well. Most people go with the ever popular flowmasters. They are very good as well. They offer many diff models to choose from with varying sound levels. You can check their site which has charts on each one. www.flowmastermufflers.com
Who told you that its illegal? I know in all States and Canada ex Cal, you can change your Exaust. If its new some parts are not warrentied.

I changed my exhaust way before the 50k mark. I have never heard of a limitation on mileage before. And no - you don't have to run a muffler, as long as the vehicle will pass emissions for your particular area.
I cut all 4 cats off my X and went with 1 hi-flow cat and a Flowmaster. Made a huge difference on the 302. I am sure you will notice the added help on the 4.0 also...
