I have an 04 Expedition Eddie Bauer that has just hit 3,000 miles. And well at about 2100 the drivers door started to rattle when i am driving. It is not that loud, but it is annoying when everything else is quiet. Also at about 2500 miles i started hearing a squeak from the back. (my guess is that it is a squeaky hinge) I went to the dealer that I bought it from and they told me that the warranty doesnt cover things like that....... Is this true????? or should I try another dealer?
The driver's door is well known on the '03. Other members have suggested spraying some silicone on the door seals. I would not accept squeaks as normal and the dealer you are going to should fix it. These vehicles cost way too much for annoyances like these to be included. Find another dealer or try talking to the manager.
The drive door rattle is probably the body molding. I found that the kit suggested by the TSB for this did not work and looked bad. My dealer replaced the body moldings on all of the doors and I have not had the rattle since except for at very high speeds (>80mph).
The idea that it is not covered by the warranty is ridiculous.
When you say that your dealer replaced the body molding, what do you mean? Are you talking about the door seals that go around the edge of each door? My dealer replaced the door seals and the door latches, the new seals are thicker and prevent noise and movement while the new latches hold the doors tigher helping the new seals to work better as well.
I mean the plastic panels that cover the bottom quarter of the doors on the EB expeditions. It seems that they have not been installed properly at the factory and tend to rattle at high speeds.
