Have you guys noticed how many people bash your Ford if anything goes wrong with it? I was telling my friend about the spark plug that blew out of the head on the expedition, and then he goes off on how Fords suck. Mine you that he drives a Honda and GM. I just told him that I really don't care. It could happen to any car, and that we just had bad luck. I am really sick of the Ford bashers, and anyone in general that bashes the vehicle you own. Why can't they appreciate what they drive, and what you have worked so hard to get. *rant off*
I would guess if you asked him, he's probably never even had to change the oil in his cars. Some people are just that way. If you don't have exactly what they have, it's junk.
My brother, who has always been totally Ford, sold his shop and buildings to a guy he was leasing part of the buildings to. The guy is a Dodge person to the bone. He even has my brother driving those little suxy Dodge vans now. He still has a 79 Bronco that he uses for a snow plow and trailer puller..and another 79 4x4 Ford pick up that he hauls scrap in, but he's ...aww.... he's just given in to the harassment from the Dodge nuts there.
I was down there the other day, talking to John.. the new owner of the shops. He had a leaflet about the new Cummins and it showd a pic of the rods in the Ford, Chev and the Cummins. Naturally, the cummins rod was bigger and heavier duty..blah blah blah.... then he started talking about my F150 and "wait till you have to change the plugs, etc". I just nodded and said that I didn't figure I'd have to do that for at least another 50,000 miles and maybe by then I'd sell it and go back to an older Bronco or F150. Or buy a new truck. Every time I stop in there..which is often, because my brother's house is still on the land, he always asks when Im gonna get a Dodge. I just smile and say "probably never".
I'm not going to get into arguing with him..or anyone else about why I love my truck. And yes, I realize it's going to be much harder to work on than the older models that I grew up with and know how to work on. But the reason I got the newer truck is due to the fact that I am getting tired of laying out under my older rigs in cold weather, tired of lousy heaters in the older Broncos, tired of the ride, tired of being nickel and dimed to death, tired of looking at rusted out spots and not having a place to work on things. Perhaps by the time this truck is worn out, so will I be and I just won't care.
Yeah..it do gravel my pooter when people just have to go out of their way trying to convince you of your wrongness.
In my view anyone that would buy a dodge is warped beyond belief. My family has owned more than a handfull and if they didn't have a 2.2l in then they were all crap. Our Fords have been the only reliable vehicles we ever had. People tell me I'm nuts because I drive a ford and I look at them and say "How many cars like your have 165k on the clock and still purr like a kitten?) Then they look at me in disbelief and walk off sulking.
The truck went into the service bay at 4pm today, and they started stripping it down. I took pictures of it a couple of times while I was there. Hopefully tomorrow we will know if it needs a new block, or if it will end up just needing the head. The head will be there at 10am tomorrow. I will keep ya informed.
It's a sign of the times...
NOBODY does anything right -
NOT to bring politics up, but when's the last time you saw and ad about what they are going to do rather than what the other guys have done wrong :-(
I generally agree with them and just tell them that they are right, Fords do suck. But I then tell them that Fords just suck less than whatever it is that they are driving. 99% of the time they drive something I have worked on in the field and I can pick out the problems their car has as proof of how crapy their ride is, in comparison to the relative lack of suck to be found in my Ford. After this, and totaly spoiling the argument for them, I then remind them that they are right, Fords do suck. I realy enjoy flat out deflating their arguments.
just the other day my buddy showed up with a new "HEMI" bragging about it bla bla bla...he said something like the ole dodge here has enough torque to drag that lil f-150 around by the bumper till its out of fuel....well i said you know what bro ill bet it could if i left mine in neutral and the tranny didnt fall out of yours sure...it could happen.
The look on his face was priceless then the stammering about how they re-designed their trannys and i said oh i heard they did but taking a peanut out of a turd dont make it re-designed it just makes it a diffrent kind of turd...lol i just do it to make him mad sometimes as hes a dodge AND JEEP GUY well when he really gets on my nerves i tell him about the jeeps back in the day using FORD parts to make their stuff move

I'll tell you what, if it weren't for my 88 F-150 I would be hopping on a plane right now to the nearest ford truck plant and lighting it on fire. My 01 F-150 is nothing but a complete piece. I just got done putting in a new radiator and a few months ago the heater core, have you ever done THAT on your new truck? The whole dash and EVERYTHING comes out. My AC compressor is going out I think, it feels like I am towing a boat when it is turned on. That should be an easy fix, the compressor is just UNDER EVERYTHING! Even if the compressor worked fine, it doesn't really matter because the AC (today was 112 and 50% humidity) only blows through the defrost because Ford cant get with the times and get rid of that junk vacuum system. Speaking of vacuum, to engage 4 wheel I have to crawl under the truck and manually engage the front differential because of that retard setup.
I am going to stop right here because if I continue, im going to want to go outside and blast my POS with a shot gun. I just thought I would list the problems that have come about in the last 3 MONTHS!! What really is ticking me off with that truck though, is last Friday I hauled the boat up the lake IN 2ND GEAR!! Now why did I do that? Because the truck is such a gutless waste that it was the only way to keep it up to speed. My truck cant get out of its own way even without the boat.
When I bough the truck it ran like a champ, which was the reason I bought it. Unfortunately I buy a truck because I need a TRUCK. A truck to me is something built to go to work, go 4X4ing, tow a trailer and gear for the lake and camping, and just be tougher then a car. NOT FORD!! You put a Ford through its paces and your screwed. Its like they come from Japan. If anyone wants to argue this then you can put your money where your mouth is. I owe $12K and change on my 01 F-150 loaded 4X4. I am trying to get rid of it for just that. I dont want that thing corroding my driveway anymore. Im afraid if I park too close to the house or anything else it might rub off and make everything around it fall apart. Being built "Ford Tough" is nothing to brag about.
I'll bet your wondering why I am apart of FTE if Ford cant make a truck that can do actual truck work. Its because my 88 was a die hard bullet proof vehicle and my dream truck is a 79 Crew Cab. Man I love that thing. New trucks are plastic japanese crap.

C'mon guys, I drive Fords and Have a 15 pass '95 Dodge Van with a 360, The dodge is just as good as any ford even with a worn out engine that is getting twice the fuel it should. (stupis move, got too big of injectors) I saw some guy in a 5.4 Ford stepside come up on me like i was standing still so I punched it before this hill just b4 my house, the guy never got past the old van, he was cussing and swearing when I threw on the signal light and started slowing down to turn, so don't bash the Dodges. Now don't even get me started on the chevs. And yea I drive like a jerk.
i couldn't imagine bashing somebody's truck. my friend just bought a dodge dakota. i told him it was nice and talked about the engine and whatnot w/him. i would never tell somebody that their truck sucks. even if you dont like it keep it to yourself. as far as chevy's go: i would definately own one. they are strong and reliable. my family has always had fords and chevies. i make fun of my brothers chevy just for fun, but thats all.
I get that often, people bashing my ford. They mainly do it because its something they know that bothers me, but most of the people who say stuff to me are the ones who know nothing about automobiles. They base their decision that ford stinks on something they heard or a rumor, not knowledge. Usually whenever someone tries to bash my ford, i'll bash back for a little while (in good fun), and when I get tired of it I'll just say "well, regardless, more people like ford than any other automaker in the world, the F-series trucks are the most popular (highest sales) than any other vehicle sold in the US". So even if you disagree with me, more people are on my side than your side.
I don't bash other peoples vehicles out side of the common joke (saying things I don't really believe myself). I think all makes have their good points and they're bad points. I don't have a problem with chevy or dodge, there are just little things about the ford that I like better, like the style, I think the fords look better...or just things like the steering wheels on those chevys, the little horn/air bag with long spokes to the rim...I hate that.
I just base it on what your opinion of the vehicle is. I will never buy a chevy or dodge truck, just...the way I am, doesn't matter which line it is, I like the ford better for whatever reason.
Ford has their issues and their problems, they've made their mistakes but who doesn't in 100 years of a company? I think that just for a company to be open for 100 years is a feat in itself. There are a lot of things ford has done that I never understood why, some of them sound stupid, but there must be a reason for it somewhere (wish I could easily find out), but bottom line is it doesn't matter if you have a chevy, ford, dodge, whatever....
They're all going to break, they're all going to have recalls/issues/mistakes/design flaws, some may be worse than others, but every make has their own problems.
