Well I have both and i like both. to me the round lights and split grill has a more classic look and the rectangle headlights and one piece grill look more agressive. I like the 78 and 79 grill better, but not by much

That's a tough one . . . both look cool. I have rectangular lights (78) right now but since my grill is toast and I'll have to replace the whole thing I'm kicking around the idea of going to the old round style. I agree with the above statement though, round does have a more classic look to it, with the split grill and all.

i have a question, what about the 78's and 77.5's that came with the new grilles and round headlights? i personally dont like the rectangular ones. i have a 77 that has the round lights, and a 78, check my gallery for pics.

i changed my 78 from round to square. i don't really care about the look either way. i was called an idiot and didn't know what year my truck was several times because i said it was a 78 and "everyone knows 78's have round headlights". haha i know it really doesn't have to do with the thread. i just think it's weird people care about headlights so much.

You can get a better & more efficient light pattern with the rectangular lights.
I also have round Bosch Halogen lights on my Stang.
