My wife is into crafty stuff. She now has a CNC paper cutter. Well, that's not what it's marketed as, but as a mechanical engineer that's what I see it as. But seriously, you get a pattern loaded into it and it traces it out on a variety of media. You can put a pen in it, but more commonly it uses a cutting tip. People use these to cut vinyl that can be applied to a bunch of things, including vehicles.
The brand my wife has is called a Cricut (pronounced like the insect). No, I'm not offering that't she'll make it for you (she'd not appreciate that). But it's another path to getting something like that made.
And they do get pretty creative. Here's an internet picture of a French truck that was decorated by a plumbers wife with one of these.
That picture is just not right
I have seen posts of the printers/cutters another toy I want but don't have $$ for.

I would think AB would be more than I paid for the truck
I just remembered they letter the trucks at work with vinyl. I don't know if they make them or have them made and they stick them on the doors?
Will have to check next time I see the guy putting them on.
I also just remembered I had a guy in FL from another forum I am on make me some dash "stickers" for my 70 AMC Javelin I am sure he would know just what I would want.
Now if I can remember all this when I need it

Nah, $100 tops for what you are looking for in AB. H#LL, even a decent tattoo costs that much....not that I have tattoos but...just sayin'. With all of the effort you are investing, I'd be more comfortable with paint over decals.

My wife said that she often finds people on ebay and Etsy (I know as much about Etsy as my wife does about FTE) who are willing to custom-make stuff for a fee. Might be another option.

I was also thinking could paint the color I want the script in then put the script down, paint the truck color over the script and then remove the script and have the color show thru.

Think I need to get a tail gate to do this on second, first need to get the truck on the road!
I was just thinking if some one knew of what I was looking for I would save the link.
Thanks guys

Because I now have a stock flare side tail gate with the FORD letters I was thinking of the decals or paint, more to the paint side.
So I may give the paint roller a try when the time comes.

Dave , Keep checking ebay and other places online. I lucked out a few years back getting the letters for my 85 cheap. It stayed black for many years after painting my tailgate .I too was going to make a stencil and paint .TR
The decals are nice and work for some guys.
I like them painted like they were from the factory. Just another way to add a custom touch to the truck like duel tanks on a flare side.
As for the decals being easier I have been known not to do easy .... swap fire wall to get AC in my truck LOL
After I get the gate in primer I am going to test try the soft rubber roller and 1 step lettering paint.
This way I can see what works and what does not before I paint it. Once painted I will "roll the letters on".
