Question Pilot Bearing Removal Problems

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on removing a pilot bearing from my 83 Bronco. I want to replace it along with the other clutch components, but can get it out. I don't have a slide hammer, and won't be able to get one for awhile since there are none available in my small town. I have also tried to pack grease behind it and push it out with a hammer and metal rod. Anyone else have any other ideas that might work? Thanks.

Well,

I have, as a last resort taken a drill and drilled a series of holes across one side ti then get it out.

Not pretty but it works,
Take care,

I was going to suggest the packed grease method since it worked for me. Sounds like the method you need is any way you can to get it out. The drilling method might work. Good luck. Ted

To get the one out of the bronco with the 300 I had to use a die grinder and a lot of care and patience. Only took about ten minutes and I was then able to use a hammer and a sharp chisel to pop it out.

Or use a pilot bearing puller if you weren't able to force it out with grease.

I use a tap to cut threads inside the bearing and install a bolt, a slidehammer will pull it right out,
if it is a steel ball/roller bearing, you will need a pilot bearing puller.

Pack the hole clear full of greese and use your clutch alighnment tool inserted partially then hit it hard several times. I havn't seen a time this wouldn't work.
