Transmission is reversed

Transmission is reversed
lol I know sounds wierd but the transmission in the 93 aerostar I just got the park is reverse and the reverse is park D1 and D2 still puts it in drive anyone know what would cause this to happen? I've never heard of transmissions doing this

I have Had a similar Problem.. I would first check the shift linkage.(maybe out of adjustment) If thats not the problem it could be the detent arm i would pull the pan off the tranny and have a look at that other than that i can't think of anything else.

tky for the info muchly appreciated all the help any one on could help on the wiring thats in the area where the raido is i've got no interior lights and when i touch the bare wire i get the lights working and the door chime. its a fixer van i picked up tky again

That would make a differance into which gear it would go.
Somebody might of put in a transmission that works backward.
