I know my reverse is gone in my transmission. The question is...should I replace the reverse gear or rebuild the entire tranny? Truck only has 45,000 miles on it? 2 of the 4 quotes I received said just the reverse would be fine on a truck with low miles. $700 for the reverse and $1800 for the whole thing. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

 

So this is an auto? Manual?
In either case and accurate diagnosis cannot be made without cracking it open.
Find a shop you trust or has a good reference.

 

If it's not broken, don't fix it.
