79 Emergency brake removal (??)

I have removed the bolts (body, dash) Then I removed the clip where the end of the cable is and the clip where the the cable comes through the assembly. This may sound dumb but the cable, with end cap will does not come out of the holder and there is no play in the cable throught the base of the assembly either. Has anyone had issues after removing everything?

Are you talking about removing the parking brake cable assembly (cable within the spiral metal housing) from your truck floor so you can replace it with a new unit? If so, there might be a retaining collar (a ring of metal with a set screw) holding it in place which you will see when you lift the rug.

There are 5 pics of what I see. Even the floor where the cable comes through. There is just no play at all in the line.

It looks to me that the ratchet assy is in the applied position, if you release the parking brake mechanism, you will have enough slack to remove the cable **** through the squarish hole in the clevis and remove the cable.
