PSD Whistle
At speeds around 35-45 mph and rpm's around 1300-1500 I sometimes hear a very clear whistle during light acceleration. I think it is coming from the exhaust but I'm not sure. It isn't there all the time. Have had my X for almost a year and this whistle just started about a month ago. 11000 miles. Any ideas?

The whistle is your turbo. You might only hear it at times, when the rpm/load/speed etc. are all in the right balance. I hear mine anytime I'm above idle, but my exhaust is much more open that yours probably is.
Don't worry about it, it's part of owning a Powerstroke. It's also one of the ways we can tell that it's you approaching, not just some gasser.

When I changed my stock air intake set up to an open element type the turbo "whistle" became more pronounced. Not bad at all in the cab. You can't hear it at all when the A/C and/or stereo is on. Real heavy at decel compared to accel. Didn't hear it but occasionally when the truck was stock.
