weak battery weird problems

would a weak battery couse weird problems? my 1997 f150 was running grat. stopped for gas and it would not start. got jump fired right up. put my meter on and the alt was putting out 13.7 volts. so drove on down the road. about two hours later truck started to cut in and out like a complete shut down. dash lights would go off just for a sec. i also noticed when putting up the elec window the amp gauge would spike when the window hit the top and the motor came under a load and the batt dummy light would flash on. i replaced the batt and the old one read 10.2 volts. bad ya i know. i guess my guestion is with all the elec on these trucks these days would a bad battery do that?

Yep, a weak battery or one that has a internal short can raise all heck with the newer vehicles. That is one of the first things I check when I get odd elec. problems. This experience comes from riding touring bikes with lots of "extra" toys and creature comforts. The big thing is that they all clear up after the new battery is installed.

thanks pete,

I kinda fiq that, even the darn tape deck was showing a tape in it. can really freak out though. so far battery has been in 12 hours and started twice. no issue on driving also.
